Travel grants for Cannes Film Market 2013
Screen Australia is offering travel grants for producers to attend the next Cannes Film Market (Marché du Film).
Held in conjunction with the Cannes Film Festival, the Cannes Film Market will run from 15 to 24 May 2013. It is the major international film market, attracting more than 11,000 industry participants last year from 109 countries, up 8 per cent on the previous year. As well as the many business opportunities available to attendees, market registration provides privileged right of entry to the market, and complimentary one-year access to Cinando, the leading online film industry database.
To be eligible for Screen Australia funding, producers must meet the relevant eligibility criteria for the International Festival and Market Travel program, including the requirement to have a previous body of completed, produced and released work, and have at least two feature films in development at a market-ready stage that they are taking to Cannes. In the case of more experienced producers, a slate of projects is preferable, at least one of which has secured 25 per cent of its budget. Producers can apply for up to $6,000 towards their travel expenses.
Approval depends on the competitive strength of the application against the criteria set out in the guidelines, and the availability of funds.
Guidelines and the relevant application form are available to download from the Screen Australia website.
