Funding programs
The Emerging Gamemakers Fund provides grants of up to $30,000 to support the development of original, new projects from independent Australian gamemakers. It can fund the creation of a prototype or the completion of a micro-scale game. The fund is aimed at emerging creators, diverse voices and/or established creators interested in creative experimentation.
The Game Production Fund provides grants of $100,000 to support the development of original, independent Australian games to take them to a significant milestone of their production, such as release, early access, vertical slice, or a quality suitable to submission for an accolade signifying cultural worth.
The Future Leaders Delegation will support six early-to-mid career gamemakers to travel to San Francisco to attend GDC 2025 (17–21 March 2025). This initiative will enable the selected delegates to connect with their peers, learn from industry experts, seek out partnerships and funding opportunities, and understand their practice within the broader international sector. This initiative also aims to support gamemakers from under-represented backgrounds. Successful applicants will be funded up to $10,000 towards flights, accommodation, meals, and event tickets. Screen Australia will provide pre-departure and on-the-ground support through a mix of workshops, presentations, mentoring, and networking opportunities.
The Games Festivals and Events Fund supports the production, facilitation, and presentation of Australian games festivals and events that significantly benefit the Australian gamemaking community. The grant provides funding for festivals, conferences, workshops, and events that offer opportunities for showcasing, networking, speaking, and community building for Australian gamemakers. Applications may be made for a minimum of $10,000 and a maximum of $100,000. Potential applicants are required to discuss their proposal with a member of the Games team prior to applying.
