Cancelled: behind the scenes

Filmmaker Luke Eve shares how he turned a pandemic setback into a creative outlet with his new digital series, Cancelled.

Luke Eve and Maria Albiñana had to cancel their wedding in Spain two days before their big day due to COVID-19. Luke's Mum then arrived from Australia and one day later, the country went into strict lockdown. Trapped in a small apartment with his partner and mother, Luke decided to turn their real life dilemma into a comedic drama online series called Cancelled, filmed entirely on an iPhone 10.

Luke explains how his experience creating the Low Life and High Life web series helped shape Cancelled’s narrative and how the limitations of filming with a smart phone actually provided more creative ideas.
