Optics is a 6 x half-hour narrative comedy set in the office of a specialist crisis management firm. Each week, the characters have to deal with a different PR crisis engulfing one of their clients, while navigating the internal rough and tumble of office politics. At its heart, Optics is about the intergenerational conflict between the older, whiter, maler Ian, with his old-school, offline approach to crisis management, and the younger, more diverse, online approach of Greta and Nicole, and their millennial and Gen-Z allies. The theme of each episode stems from the PR method that the characters choose to deal with the crises they’re dealing with. That method echoes across all the plotlines.
