The Screen Guide

This title looks at the position of women in post-revolutionary China, as observed critically by a group of Australian feminist women. It discusses such issues as sexuality, health-care, childcare, women and work, women's political participation. It shows the idealism of Western feminists in examining the lives of women in a socialist society and the subsequent jolt to their expectations in view of the creeping influence of Western capitalism in China.
