The Screen Guide

Life for Australia’s Jews has changed significantly since October 7 with anti-Israel sentiment prevalent. Melbourne psychologist and director of an award-winning documentary about Israelis and Palestinians transforming grief into a bridge for understanding travels to Tel Aviv and finds deep trauma alongside a fierce protest movement determined to drive change. We meet a father whose daughter was massacred at the Nova festival, the son of a murdered peace-activist and a musician who barely escaped the terrorists. These broken-hearted people are rising up against their right-wing government to demand elections and rebuild their country. As the psychologist explains ‘because trauma breaks everything apart, there’s an opportunity to rebuild.’ Can this protest movement save their homeland’s soul and shine a path forward?
