The Screen Guide

The township of Lightning Ridge, in north western NSW, is most known for its elusive black opal. But late in 2009 it gained media attention for the large number of children forcibly removed from their homes by the NSW Department of Community Services. Local Indigenous women have described the removals as a modern day "Stolen Generation". To combat this issue they have set up the Wirringah Women's Group which is working to reunite families in 'The Ridge'.
