Self-imposed exile, Australian poet, playwright & dramaturg, Christopher Barnett runs an experimental theatre laboratory, Le Dernier Spectateur, in Nantes, where he has lived for the past 18 years. Working with the most marginalised of the city, using French cultural funds, his work is applauded by the locals. What became of the rabble-rousing, heavy-drinking, radical poet of the 80s demi-monde- described by The Australian newspaper as "...one of the most controversial figures on the Australian art scene..." is a poignant and inspiring story. Told with wit & vigour by Christopher Barnett – a powerful story that is as much about social engagement as it is about artistic expression.
