One of the most eloquent tributes to the Australian outback was Jeannie Gunn's novel 'We of the Never-Never', and many of the qualities which she admired are still there. The cattle station where she lived was the setting for the film version of her novel, and when the film moved on to location, A Big Country went along, to capture the unchanging character of the Never-Never, where the past is ever present. Two of our most respected actresses appear: Angela Punch McGregor, who plays Jeannie in the film, and Robyn Nevin, who reads Jeannie's words from her novel.
