The Screen Guide

1971. In the Western Desert outpost of Papunya, tribal groups fought to preserve their law, culture and identity by inventing a new art form. Sacred symbols once painted on their bodies and in the sand migrated to canvas and took the art world by storm. In the midst of this revolutionary act was an unlikely friendship between Papunya elder Kaapa Tjampitjinpa and a teacher from the city, Geoff Bardon.
