The Screen Guide

The history and wildlife of Heron Island, a tiny cay on The Great Barrier Reef. Discovered in 1843 and named by Geologist, Joseph Jukes. In 1930 a turtle factory was established by Cristian Poulsen who turned it into a small resort and it was owned by the family until 1980. Today there is a top resort, marine research station and a great deal of wildlife, above and below the sea.
