Saidin Salkic was born in Srebrenica, Bosnia, the place of the greatest genocide in Europe since WW2. His work carries the uniqueness and intensity that has inspired the Australian pioneering film writer John Flaus to compare Salkic's place in the history of cinema to the place of Gertrude Stein in the history of literature for the exploratory qualities of his work. It was an important comparison knowing that Flaus considers Stein to be one of the two greatest artists of the 20th century. Salkic is the creator of 15 films till date. He lives and works in Melbourne.
