In 1969, Laurie Nichols rose from obscurity and earned the title of Balmain Tigers Number One Fan. Over the following decades, his devotion and loyalty saw him transcend the crowds on the hill to become an established part of the team. A renowned shadow boxer, Laurie was later to fight hard for the survival of the club. He died three days before the newly formed Wests Tigers first game.
