Dee Dogan is a Kurdish writer and director, based in Western Sydney. She works across narrative fiction and documentary, with a focus on stories told from women's perspectives in the Kurdish diaspora. A LOSS, Dee's debut short, was accepted into the Short Film Corner at 69th Cannes Film Festival in 2016. BEING KURD – BASHUR, was nominated for Best Australian Short Documentary at the 2017 Antenna Documentary Film Festival. In 2018, Dee was selected as one of eight screenwriters for the Behind Closed Doors program, to develop an anthology of stories for TV, online broadcast and theatrical screenings supported by Screen Australia and producers Co-Curious, Sheila Jayadev and Lyn Norfor (Emerald Productions). Dee is currently in development for her debut feature film A CUP OF TEA which is produced by award-winning producers John Maynard (Jirga) and Bridget Ikin (Sherpa, An Angel at My Table) of Felix Media. Dee is also developing a short film LULLABY with producer Bethany Bruce (Wolf). She holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Film Studies and Philosophy from the University of New South Wales.
