Cathy (Catherine) Johnstone is a writer based in Naarm, Melbourne. She has written and directed short films which have won awards and screened in national and international film festivals. STRUNG UP (1996) won the Turtle Cove award for Best Australian Short Film at Melbourne Queer Film Festival in 1997 and DISAPPEARED (2001) screened on Eat Carpet, SBS in 2002. Her current projects are a novel and creative non-fiction essays. She has been awarded grants, professional development and prizes from Varuna, KSP Writer’s Centre, Australia Council, Australian Film Commission, Fiona Myer and Myer Foundation and MQFF.
