The postie bike scooters are designed for traveling short distances however 80 hard core adventure enthusiasts took this little bike to its limit, spending 11 days traveling at 70 kilometres over 4,000 kilometres, 1,300 kilometres on dirt to the Northern Territory of Australia. The journey took them a world away from the coastal strips through the heartland in a unique country that fascinates Aussies and overseas visitors alike. To head this journey two famous Australian modern day explorers Hans Tholrupt from the solar challenges and Lang Kidby who among main claims to fame plotted the centre of Australia. Solo pilot Gabby Kennard and 60 hardened motor bike club riders joined many novice riders for fun, adventure and for the ultimate gesture to give the postie bikes to the Rotary club for them to ship to the health clinics in East Timor. Due to this common goal, the comradeship of the group and the welcoming hospitality of the small towns along the way made the scorching temperatures, wandering wild life, road trains, corrugations, river crossings and the spills and broken bones all seem worth while. For some it was a personal challenge and others a crazy way of visiting the outback of Australia. All agreed it was an experience they would never forget.
