When Detectives Tori Lustigman and Nick Manning are assigned a brutal murder case they uncover evidence to suggest the killing is connected to a spate of unexplained deaths and disappearances of gay men that took place in the 80s and 90s. The killer is using THRUSTR to entice his victims and anyone using the App is now at risk. In reopening the cold cases the detectives reveal the hidden truth about the past murders, finally giving closure to the victims' families, and uncover critical evidence leading to the serial killer.
The series follows television personality Ernie Dingo as he travels the length and breadth of Australia.
Produced by SBS in collaboration with Butchulla artist Fiona Foley and academic Larissa Behrendt, K’gari is an innovative, interactive documentary that debunks one of Australia’s first fake news stories by exposing the largely untold Aboriginal version of events. This interactive uses technology to reframe history. Incorporating vivid animation and sound, it leads the user through two versions of the story of British castaway, Eliza Fraser.
The story begins when a group of five friends embark on a yacht trip from Brisbane to Indonesia, a chance for adventure and to enjoy a holiday at the same time. The group is just a day’s sail from their destination when something appears on the horizon. Another boat. The group come to the aid of a broken-down asylum seekers’ boat, leading to a tragic series of events that return to haunt them five years later.
The series explores the complex issues of cultural heritage and identity, and the way our assumptions around what an Australian looks like impact our understanding of what it means to be Australian.
Country Australia has a long migrant history – but it’s one that most Australians don’t know. This new SBS series, Where Are You Really From?, celebrates that history and looks at how generations of migrants have made their homes here while having to confront sometimes negative stereotypes.
What does it mean to have your identity as an Australian constantly questioned? To be asked, not just where you’re from, but where you’re really from? It’s a question that comedian Michael Hing still gets asked in 2019 – even though the Hing family migrated to Australia more than a hundred years and five generations ago.
