Screen Australia Welcomes Darren Dale to Board
Screen Australia welcomes the appointment of award-winning producer Darren Dale to its Board, who brings a wealth of experience and industry knowledge.
Darren Dale
As the managing director of First Nations-owned production company Blackfella Films, Dale has produced a range of influential and award-winning projects that have resonated with audiences both in Australia and internationally. His celebrated works include First Australians, Total Control, Redfern Now, Australians, The Dark Emu Story and The Australian Wars.
Dale’s extensive involvement in the screen industry extends beyond his role at Blackfella Films. He is a Member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, Board Chair of the Sydney Film Festival and also serves on the boards of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and the Sydney Festival. He was previously on the board of Screen NSW, the Council of the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS), Australian Centre for Moving Image (ACMI) and the Australian Film Institute (AFI). In 2012, he was the recipient of the prestigious AFTRS Honorary Degree.

Darren Dale has been appointment for a three-year term, effective 18 August 2024.
Screen Australia’s nine-member Board includes Michael Ebeid AM (Chair), Megan Brownlow (Deputy Chair), Dr Tania Chambers OAM, Darren Dale, Marta Dusseldorp, Sacha Horler, Deborah Mailman AM, Nicholas Pickard and Pallavi Sharda.
