Gurrumul: meet the filmmaker

Writer/director Paul Damien Williams discusses working on his first feature documentary, Gurrumul.

Damien Williams recounts signing on to the project as being in “the right place at the right time.”

Dr G Yunupingu’s friend and collaborator Shannon Swan, who produced the documentary, suggested the idea, to which Paul says Dr G Yunupingu replied ‘yeah, but only if Paul directs it.’

Paul also recounts the process of securing historical footage from many different sources for the film, plus more.
