Cannes Film Market travel grants 2014
The Cannes Film Market (Marché du Film) will take place in May 2014 and Screen Australia is offering travel grants for producers to attend.
Held in conjunction with the Cannes Film Festival, the Cannes Film Market is the major annual international film market, last year attracting approximately 11,000 industry participants from 108 countries, including 1,918 buyers. In 2013 more than 5000 films were presented in the market.
Attendance at the market offers extraordinary opportunities to meet with international film industry participants, to discuss current and future projects, and to move your slate plans forward.
Registering for the market offers access to the attending professionals, as well as a number of exclusive services and events such as the Marché Guide, which details attending businesses, and inclusion of your business on Cinando, the online database and platform for the film industry.
To be eligible for Screen Australia funding producers must be taking at least two feature films in development at a market-ready stage to the Cannes Film Market, as well as meeting general funding eligibility. In the case of more experienced producers, a slate of projects is preferable, at least one of which has secured 25 per cent of its budget. Producers can apply for up to $6,000 towards their travel expenses.
Approval depends on the competitive strength of the application against the criteria set out in the guidelines, and the availability of funds.
Guidelines and the International Markets application form are available to download from the Screen Australia website.
