Seriously Red - behind the scenes

Writer and actor Krew Boylan talks about her ten-year journey to get the feature film Seriously Red to the big screen.

In order to make a comedy about a Dolly Parton impersonator, writer Krew Boylan knew she had to get the real Dolly on board at an early stage. Fortunately, Rose Byrne was able to get the script to Parton’s manager and they discovered: getting her blessing was the easy part.

“We convinced Dolly [Parton] eight years ago that this was a really cool film,” Boylan says. “And then it took us eight years to convince everybody else.”

In this behind-the-scenes video, Boylan details: her process for writing; the gratitude she has for the celebrity impersonators who starred in the film; and the joy she gets from being a part of the creative collective, Dollhouse Pictures.

Seriously Red is released in cinemas nationally from 24 November 2022.
