Irene McMonnies appointed Head of Legal Services and Producer Offset and Co-Production at Screen Australia
Screen Australia has announced the appointment of Irene McMonnies as Head of Legal Services and Producer Offset and Co-Production, commencing 9 May 2022.
Irene has over 18 years’ of extensive experience in various senior legal roles across television, radio and digital media. She will join Screen Australia from her current role as Director of Legal and Business Affairs at Australian Radio Network (ARN) where she has overseen the legal and compliance team across its suite of commercial radio and digital publishing platforms since 2019.
Before joining ARN, Irene led the legal team as General Counsel at News Corp Australia and Nine Entertainment Co’s jointly-owned TV news channel Your Money, which she joined after three years in-house as Nine’s Corporate Counsel where she focused on regulation and compliance.
Irene joined Nine from Prime Media Group where as Legal Counsel she worked across commercial advice, broadcasting services, compliance and regulation.
Starting her career at Gilbert + Tobin Lawyers, Irene worked for eight years as a lawyer specialising in Intellectual Property and Litigation.

Irene will succeed Natalie Buck who is departing the agency this week.
