On the latest episode of the Screen Australia podcast, we dig into the archives to hear from Sophie Hyde of Adelaide-based filmmaker collective Closer Productions.
Recorded in 2019, the same year Animals made its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival, Hyde reveals her experience making the Australian/Irish Official Co-production, which was her second feature after the 2013 acclaimed debut 52 Tuesdays.

Hyde also talks about working with partner Bryan Mason, who is a ‘secret weapon’ as both cinematographer and editor on many of her projects; why she always knew she wanted to be a director; and what advice she has for anyone thinking of venturing down the same path.
