Closer's Brilliant Careers
Rebecca Summerton Company Director
Rebecca Summerton is a producer and owner/director of screen production company Closer Productions. Bec’s credits include feature documentary Sam Klemke’s Time Machine, which premiered at Sundance 2015 and 52 Tuesdays, which won the Directing Award, World Cinema Dramatic at Sundance Film Festival 2014 and the Crystal Bear for Best Film at Berlinale 2014. For television, Bec has produced a number of documentaries including the award-winning doc/drama hybrid I Want to Dance Better at Parties (2013) and the three-part arts series Hannah Gadsby’s Oz (2014). Most recently, Bec produced the immersive virtual reality work Stuck in the Middle with You (2016) commissioned by the Australian Centre of the Moving Image.
Sophie Hyde Company Director
Australian filmmaker Sophie Hyde is a founder of Adelaide-based film collective Closer Productions. Sophie makes provocative and intimate drama and documentary work. She directed, produced and co-wrote the innovative feature drama 52 Tuesdays, which won the directing award for world cinema at Sundance 2014 and the Crystal Bear at the Berlinale 2014. Her documentaries include Sam Klemke’s Time Machine (Sundance 2015) Shut Up Little Man! (Sundance 2011), and Life In Movement (Australian Documentary Prize 2012). She is currently a recipient of the Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship and Screen Australia’s Feature Enterprise Program.
Christine Williams Producer
Christine Williams is a South Australian producer who has vast experience in film production and has worked on more than 20 feature film/TV projects including features The Boys Are Back, The Reef and Wish You Were Here. She recently line produced the $2 million indie horror The Pack. Her move into producing has seen her focus on short-form work, including the ABC documentary Meatwork and Closer’s short My Berst friend is Stuck on the Ceiling (Dendy finalist 2016). She was also selected to participate in the inaugural SPA Ones to Watch program.
