SXSW Film & TV Festival is part of SXSW Festivals which also has Music and Comedy streams running at the same time. There is also SXSW Conference which includes Film, TV and online subject tracks. South by Southwest was founded in 1987 is Austin, Texas and is mostly recognised for its convergence of tech, film, music, education and culture.
The film and TV festival runs for nine days and has diverse programming including genre in a midnight program, a feature documentary competition, a feature narrative competition, an episodic TV section, plus an Academy qualifying short film competition. It is usually very well attended by the public and the media. It can provide a good launch prior to US distribution.
