Screen Australia has opened applications to assist six Australian screen producers to travel to Toronto for an Australian / Canadian Co-Production Day.

Stuff the British Stole - recent Australian / Canadian Co-Production.

Screen Australia has opened applications to assist six Australian screen producers to travel to Toronto for an Australian / Canadian Co-Production Day. This day, which is held in partnership between Screen Australia and Ontario Creates, will take place on 6 September 2024 to coincide with the Toronto International Film Festival and Industry Conference (TIFF), taking place from 5-15 September 2024.

The six applicants will be supported for up to AUD $6,000 each for travel to and for accommodation in Toronto.

The initiative will provide Australian producers, who have experience with official co-productions (or completed content at a comparable scale of budget), with the opportunity to meet with their Canadian equivalents, to encourage early-stage creative connections and foster meaningful partnerships and relationships for official co-productions made under the Australia-Canada treaty.

To be eligible for this program applicants:

  • must be Australian citizens or residents and meet our Terms of Trade.
  • have recent credit(s) as a lead producer on long form scripted or documentary series and/or features of reasonable budget with evidence of significant views, that has:
  • screened on broadcast television or a subscription-based platform, and was one of the top 10 most-watched shows on that platform at time of transmission; or
  • streamed online on any reportable platform, with evidence of audiences/views in excess of 1 million or other evidence of trending on YouTube at time of release; or
  • been distributed and theatrically released in multiple major international territories; or
  • been nominated for and/or a recipient of a significant international award such as awards from Toronto, Hotdocs, Cannes, Venice, Sundance, Berlin, IDFA, SXSW, Annecy festivals or the Academy, BAFTA, or Emmy awards.

Priority will be given to those who have international official co-production experience and at least one project on their slate with a potential for co-production with Canada.

Applications from underrepresented communities are encouraged to apply.

Applications close 5pm AEST on Thursday 18 July 2024.
