The Gondwanaland Project is a band that brought a new sound to rock'n'roll, taking its name and musical themes from the ancient super-continent of Gondwanaland. At its heart is the music of Charlie McMahon, Australia's foremost white player of the didgeridoo. Charlie began playing at the age of four, using plastic drainpipes and vacuum cleaner hoses, and despite losing a hand in an explosives accident, now has a reputation big enough for him to be flown to London to record music for the film MAD MAX III, BEYOND THUNDERDOME. This is the story of his life in two worlds - the city world of music, and the bush world of the Aboriginal Pintabi people, with whom Charlie is deeply involved.
