It’s been a one helluva rugby season and it’s still not over. Since moving up a higher grade in their local league competition, the Sydney Convicts A team has been beaten fair and square in just about every match. Nobody likes to lose, least of all the Convicts. But they have to keep their spirits up - the Bingham Cup, the international gay rugby world cup, is around the corner. From more than a hundred hopefuls, coach Charlie has to choose the winning combination of fifteen players. Fifteen starting players means lots of guys, talented guys, aren’t going to get much of a look in. Nobody likes sitting on the bench, then again; nobody ever played rugby for individual glory. Cinematic and deeply poetic, Scrum smashes stereotypes in taking an intimate look into the lives of three gay athletes as they vie for a position in the Sydney Convicts.
