Premium development fund increase
Projects with market interest should apply now.
Total Control received development and production funding from Screen Australia
As prefaced by Screen Australia CEO Graeme Mason last week, the agency is increasing the funding allocation to the Story Development: Premium fund.
The Premium fund was established in 2018 to develop scripted projects of ambition and scale with demonstrable market viability, from creators with a track record of success.
PREMIUM PLUS FOR PROJECTS WITH MARKET INTEREST
In 2018/19 the total financing through the Story Development: Premium fund was $1.45m. For 2019/20 the budget allocation has been increased to $3.4m.
The extra ‘Premium Plus’ funds will be targeted towards:
- Higher-budget productions that are close to being production ready with firm market interest.
- Episodic scripted drama, however film and online productions will also be considered.
These productions will be able to request development funds for items beyond producer/writer fees.
Any producers with projects that are already in advanced stage development and have firm market interest, who have not already been in touch with Head of Development Nerida Moore in the past fortnight, should email [email protected] before putting in an application.
A Premium Plus option will be added to the Story Development: Premium application portal in the next fortnight.
STANDARD DEVELOPMENT CONTINUES
Projects that do not meet the above requirements for Premium Plus can still apply via Story Development Generate and Premium as normal. These are core Screen Australia programs for scripted works and are open all year.
There is no requirement to get in touch with Screen Australia prior to a standard Story Development application.
Browse the Funding and Support section of the Screen Australia website for funding opportunities relevant to your story and format.
