Screen Australia welcomes back TIFF selector
Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) selector Jane Schoettle will once again be hosted by Screen Australia this April to watch new Australian features for potential pre-selection.
Sweet Country was selected for TIFF in 2017
TIFF is one of the biggest annual film festivals in the world and runs from 6-16 September this year. It’s particularly significant for the film industry due to its pre-awards season timing and proximity to North America.
Jane has been hosted by Screen Australia to watch films for pre-selection for many years. Last year several films were successful in their application to TIFF, including Sweet Country from director Warwick Thornton, which won the prestigious Platform Prize. Breath from director Simon Baker, 1%, Cocaine Prison and The Butterfly Tree were also part of the festival’s programming in 2017.
Filmmakers that have a feature film for Jane to see while she is Australia should check the eligibility criteria on TIFF’s website and contact Dale Fairbairn at Screen Australia by 2 April 2018.
